Job Description

Deputy Director: Business Continuity Management
Directorate: Strategic Management
Salary: R434 505 per annum (Level 11) (Ref. 84292/3)

Requirements: • A relevant 3-year degree/National Diploma in Social Science, or Public Administration or equivalent qualification NQF level 6 • At least 5 years’ experience in Business Continuity Management • Experience in conducting Business Impact Assessment • Knowledge of policy development, analysis and management • Organisation and co-ordination skills • Communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills • Research skills • Facilitation and presentation skills • Good computer literacy.


Duties: • Develop and maintain BCM policy, strategies and relevant documentation • Align the BCM strategy to the Presidency’s strategic objectives and operations • Co-ordinate the BCM arrangements and systems, including Incident Management, both within the Presidency and with external stakeholders • Ensure effective communication of the BCM standards, policies, and defined principles to the Heads of various business units within the Presidency • Produce guidelines for Business Continuity standards, resilience and disaster recovery arrangements • Facilitate, co-ordinate, manage and monitor the implementation of BCPs and DRPs • Coordinate the activities of the Business Continuity Team • Develop effective strategies for testing BCPs • Organise and conduct Business Continuity tests with respective Unit Heads • Manage the DRPs, BCPs and Incident Management Plans • Ensure BCM capability in the Presidency, including the development of appropriate BCM tools • Undertake a Business Continuity Risk Assessment and facilitate development of mitigating plans by Risk Owners should it be deemed necessary to treat the risks • Implement a Business Continuity change management process • Facilitate Business Continuity-related training for all relevant stakeholders • Maintain continuous development and maintenance of the business continuity management system for the Presidency.
