The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU), an award-winning unit, is one of the largest AIDS research centres in Africa and based at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. The early research focus on prevention of mother to child transmission has expanded and PHRU now leads studies on many different aspects of HIV prevention, treatment and care, including medical and social research.
The Perinatal HIV Research Unit (PHRU) is a research unit of the University of Witwatersrand.
Our vision is to reduce the impact of the HIV epidemic on South Africans.

PHRU is expanding its male circumcision projects into the North West. Suitable candidates are required in the following hospitals.
Tshepong Hospital – Klerksdorp
Potchefstroom Hospital
Training and support will be provided.
