Deputy Director: Impact Evaluation

Salary: R378 456 per annum (Level 11) (Ref. DOHS/111/2010)

Requirements:
- A four-year degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Engineering/Management Information Systems (MIS) or other qualification in any related field, supplemented with computer courses and experience
- Broad knowledge and experience related to computer systems and technologies
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good interpersonal and planning skills
- The ability to think logically
- Knowledge of Monitoring and Evaluation systems and processes
- A valid driver’s licence
- Proficiency in Microsoft SQL and MS Access
- 3-5 years’ working experience in programme evaluation, database management, research and quantitative data analysis, as well as strong report writing skills, would be added advantages.
Duties:
- Manage and administer the database system as it relates to content and user administration
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
- Provide accurate specifications to programmers
- Work with database management software and determine ways to store, organise, analyse, use and present data
- Identify user needs and update the database
- Integrate data from other Human Settlements systems into the MEIA system
- Test and co-ordinate modifications to the system, as and when required
- Ensure the optimal performance of the system, based on a profound understanding of the platform on which the database runs
- Plan and co-ordinate security measures with network administrators
- Develop and design database strategies
- Monitor and improve database performance and capacity, as well as plan for future expansion requirements
- Administer the database remotely, using a remote database administration client programme
- Capacitate officials as and when new developments are made to the system.
