Two Rivers Platinum Mine is situated 60km from Lydenburg and 25km from Steelpoort. This mechanised mining operation involves underground and possibly opencast mining activities and operates as a quality long-term supplier of platinum.
Risk Officer (CU Band)
Requirements:
- A recognised Diploma in Risk Assessment Management will be advantageous
- Good interpersonal, communication, planning, organising and problem-solving skills
- At least two years’ experience in a mining environment as a Risk Officer
- Computer literacy, including MS Office programs
- A Code B/EB (08) driver’s licence
- A Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines; or a recognised trade certificate
- A Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency will be advantageous
- Quality assurance and project management experience
- PRMS (PLCL), COMSOC I & II & AFRAD (Accredited Facilitators Risk Assessment Diploma)
- Train-the-Trainer
- Auditors courses for Safety and Risk Control Management
- Knowledge of risk assessment techniques (SWIFT, HAZOP and FMECA)
- Knowledge of risk impact assessment and accident investigation (RCAT or SCAT)
- Knowledge of Fire (Advanced Fire – FPA)
- Behaviour-based safety experience.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the SHEQ Co-ordinator, the incumbent will:
- Ensure that the baseline risk assessment is reviewed as per established frequency and updated as required, ie new/changed standards, procedures, legislation, incidents, continuous risk assessments
- Ensure that a Critical Task Inventory is established for TRP and Task Analysis has been conducted on all Critical Tasks and task procedures generated accordingly
- Ensure issue-based and ad hoc risk assessment are conducted in order of criticality as identified in the baseline risk assessment, after incidents, as a result of DME Section 54 and 55 instructions, after changes, introduction of new equipment, etc
- Establish and roll out a continuous Risk Assessment Programme on TRP
- Ensure that all actions arising from formal risk assessments are implemented and closed out on stipulated target dates
- Ensure that all OEM product/service risk assessments are scrutinised for methodology and technical content before the product or service is allowed to be tested or delivered
- Ensure the change management process is adhered to
- Ensure that formal training curriculum for relevant levels of occupations in risk assessment techniques are available and up-to-date for the training of personnel
- Ensure a database is kept of all risk assessment studies/results/outcomes
- Communicate the findings of risk assessments to all relevant parties - Health and Safety Committee, Standards Committee, HRD and affected parties
- Communicate all significant risks, control measures implemented and progress made towards the achievement of objectives by means of a monthly report to Senior Management.
