Job Description

The Africa Institute of South Africa, a statutory research organisation based in Pretoria, invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for a position in the Publications Division. Applications from candidates in the affirmative action categories are particularly encouraged.

Assistant Editor: Publications
Salary: R190 000 - R210 000 per annum (all-inclusive)
(3-year renewable performance-based contract)


Requirements:

  • A BA or postgraduate degree in English and Publishing or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a publishing environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team, under pressure and to tight deadlines is essential
  • Experience in project management and knowledge of the development challenges facing South Africa, as well as current affairs, will be advantageous.


Duties:

  • Co-ordinate and manage the production of AISA publications
  • Co-ordinate editorial activities and functions
  • Manage and co-ordinate a team of freelancers, such as typesetters, designers, copy editors, proofreaders, etc.
