Mossel Bay Municipality invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the undermentioned vacancy.
Manager: Water and Sewerage Networks
Basic remuneration package: ± R505 187 per annum
Basic salary: R291 084 per annum (Fringe benefits: R214 103 per annum: Travel allowance, pension fund, medical, bonus, etc)
This popular tourist destination in the Southern Cape, is one of the fastest growing areas in South Africa and requires the services of a high-level, transformational and strategic leader, to head the Sub-directorate: Water and Sewerage Services of the Municipality and report to the Director: Technical Services.
Key performance areas:
- Manage the Water and Sewerage networks section
- Plan, develop and maintain Water and Sewerage Infrastructure
- Develop a programme for infrastructure service delivery within the municipal area, in line with the IDP and its implementation
- Compile and manage annual operational plans and operational and capital budget for the Sub-directorate
- Manage staff and discipline in the Sub-directorate
- Survey, design and plan installation of new water and sewerage installations
- Identify sub-standard and deteriorating services for upgrading
- Ensure that the water and sewer plants comply with statutory requirements at all times
- Source funding for water and sewer-related capital projects
- Ensure training and development of staff.
Requirements:
- Appropriate Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
- Extensive, proven, high-level managerial experience in the Civil Engineering field, preferably in a Municipal environment relating to the above key performance areas for a minimum of five years
- Sound knowledge of applicable legislation
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in terms of the Engineering Profession Act of South Africa (Act 46 of 2000)
- Code B driver’s licence.

- Ability to work with all kinds of people
- Track record of service delivery
- Computer literacy with experience in MS Word, Excel and Caddie
- Good financial management skills
- Strong management and problem-solving skills.
