Chief Geologist
Working on a 9-week on, 4-week off roster basis, the incumbent will provide leadership to the Geology Department team on a daily basis to ensure professional, safe, efficient and cost-effective Grade Control, Resource Development and Mineral Extraction. Activities include developing and implementing mine plans and schedules, supervising and interpreting geotechnical and geological mapping and conducting quarterly performance reviews of Senior Geology staff.
This role requires a relevant degree in Geology, 10 years’ plus experience in mining and exploration (preferably in multi-element open-cut operations), of which 5 years had been at senior supervisory level. Advanced skills in geological block modeling, ore reserve evaluations, ore body reconciliations, geostatistical analysis and report writing are essential, along with some skills in cost analysis, geological budget preparation and preparation and management of exploration programmes. Excellent computer literacy in Surpac Mining Software or similar, MS Office and Acquire Database is also required.
