Limited’s Beeshoek Iron Ore Mine, situated approximately 7km west of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape (± 200km west of Kimberley), requires the services of a:

Chief Planner

Requirements: * A Trade Test with a minimum of an N4 (essential) * Completion of a Basic Maintenance Programme (16 weeks) * A Maintenance Management Certificate * Certificate in Middle Management Programme (essential) * A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a mining environment, of which at least 3 years had been as an artisan, 2 years in a supervisory post and 3 years as a planner or relieving as a Superintendent: Planning

Knowledge of: * Asset Management System * Condition Monitoring * Material control and procurement procedures and policies * EAMS business processes and strategy * Process and maintenance theory
related to: Crushing; screening; conveying; staking and reclaiming; gravity separation; de-slimes and de-grid cyclones; water recovery; tailings equipment; power reticulation; control systems * Process flow and instrumentation diagrams l*Skills: * Planning and organising * Communication * Co-ordination * Supervisory
* Performance and diversity management * Motivational * Leadership * Assertiveness * Controlling and mentoring * Presentation * Computer literacy in JDE, MS Office and MES * A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence.

Key performance areas include, inter alia, ensuring efficient and effective Asset Management to achieve operational targets in a cost-effective manner, through the following job objectives: * Managing the execution of the Enterprise Asset Management Programme in order to meet set industry parameters of reliability and availability of assets by maintaining and improving the Enterprise Asset Management System and Processes across sectional boundaries, including user proficiency * Reviewing, improving and planning asset care activities in order to ensure optimal asset management through optimum maintenance mix techniques * Ensuring the asset register is updated and maintained by providing stakeholders with accurate and current information * Providing accurate and appropriate information to assist and support Management’s decisions in compiling and monitoring the “5-year Plan” * Facilitating audits regarding the performance of the EAMS, developing an
improvement plan with stakeholders, monitoring and reporting progress in the execution thereof, including the review, maintenance and improvement of the Asset Management Strategy and Procedures * Conducting and facilitating root cause analyses with stakeholders to ensure an optimum asset care plan is in place
* Ensuring adherence to SHERQ and legal standards and procedures and assisting Management in the improvement thereof within the span of control * Ensuring timeous reporting of accurate relevant information to relevant stakeholders and hard copy archiving of statutory and required documentation * Liaising with the Materials Control and Procurement Sections and other stakeholders regarding spares requirements
and availability * Directing the human effort in support of business objectives in applying a performance management system and the interpretation and effective communication of management information and team needs to stakeholders.

Appointment: Remuneration will be based on a competitive, all-inclusive, flexible package.

The successful candidate will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act, 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Minimum Standards of Fitness to perform work at a Mine. He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
The abovementioned position is D1 on the Patterson grading system. The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. Should the successful candidate not conform with all said requirements and experience, but is nonetheless regarded as suitable for appointment to the position, he/she will be appointed on a lower, more appropriate grading, until successful achievement of required competencies and skills.
