ASSMANG Ltd – Manganese Division requires the services of the following individuals at their
Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km northwest of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.

CHIEF Buyer

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: * Supervising the purchasing and contracts department * Participating in the Tender Board * Resolving procurement queries * Supplier evaluations * Purchasing * Vendor base management * Managing and monitoring BBBEE procurement * Updating and expanding purchasing policies and procedures and monitoring compliance * Negotiating with suppliers.

Minimum qualification: National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management or an appropriate Accounting degree/diploma.

Experience and requirements: * Minimum of 5 years’ purchasing or relevant experience in a mining environment with a minimum of 2 years’ experience at a supervisory level * Ability to demonstrate a sound insight into procurement systems and procedures and to make recommendations to continuously improve systems * High level of computer literacy in both Microsoft Office suite and procurement systems with previous exposure to JD Edwards being an advantage * Good negotiation and communication skills * Ability to communicate in both English and Afrikaans (read, write and speak) * High sense of responsibility * Ability to work accurately under pressure * Code 08 driver’s licence.

The successful candidates will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act, 29/1996. Applicants must be prepared to undergo a complete psychometric analysis as part of the selection process.

Appointment: Remuneration will be based on a competitive all-inclusive flexible package.
