Job Description


ASSMANG Ltd – Manganese Division requires the services of the following individuals at their
Black Rock Mine Operations situated 80km northwest of Kuruman in the Northern Cape.
MANGANESE BLACK ROCK MINE OPERATIONS
IT Systems Engineer

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: * Monitoring the availability of all production systems and infrastructure at time intervals as indicated in the Master schedule * Maintaining databases of all production systems * Monitoring interfaces with commercial systems and other production systems * Identifying system failures and errors and following agreed procedures as specified for each system or application * Ensuring that monitoring alerts are logged and updated accordingly * Ensuring that daily, weekly and monthly data backup procedures completed.

Minimum qualifications: * Matric with a degree or diploma in IT and/or Control Systems * Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the relevant field.

Experience and requirements: * Valid Code B/EB driver’s licence * Experience in database administration and Microsoft SQL * Experience in VMW and San data storage will be an advantage * Ability to be on standby * Experience in production systems spanning all functions in a manufacturing environment * The interfacing of the above mentioned technologies is extremely important * Exposure to real-time production systems and the integration thereof to enterprise-wide systems, including business intelligence and reporting.

The successful candidates will be appointed on the condition of being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act, 29/1996. Applicants must be prepared to undergo a complete psychometric analysis as part of the selection process.
