Job Description

Office of the Regional Land Claims Commissioner:
Gauteng and North West (Mmabatho)
Senior Receptionist
Salary: R105 645 per annum (Level 6) (Ref. S8/3/2010/505)


Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a switchboard environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Professional and strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure as a high volume of incoming calls must be handled
  • Ability to communicate with employees of all levels
  • Proficiency in official languages will be an added advantage
  • Ability to communicate in the local language will be added advantage.


Duties:

  • Manage and control the switchboard and reception area
  • Receive clients and make the necessary referrals
  • Co-ordinate the booking for boardroom
  • Operate the switchboard by answering incoming and outgoing calls
  • Ensure that customers are referred promptly and correctly
  • Take down message and administer the correct distribution thereof
  • Supply basic information to customers regarding restitution and the Department’s services
  • Update the internal telephone directory and keep the database of other imported contact numbers
  • Monitor telephone costs, including printing of monthly detailed printouts
  • Assist with general administrative activities
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the communication unit.
