The advertised positions are for the Burnstone Mine, situated 80km south of Johannesburg, close to the town of
Balfour. Burnstone Mine will be built on modern infrastructure to service mining activities, using specialised
equipment and technology to enhance safe production over the life of the mine (which will exceed 19
years as part of Phase 1 of the project). Remuneration will be competitive and future increases will

Supervisor: Mechanical Maintenance
This role requires a person with five or more years’ experience in ore crushing, milling,
conveyor belts or 5 years in a metallurgical plant. An N6 Fitting and Turning or Millwright/
diploma Mechanical Engineering is the minimum education required, and candidates must
have a driver’s licence.
The role involves scheduling and co-ordinating routine maintenance of all mechanical
equipment, undertaking plant inspections and identifying potential risks and/or
improvements. The incumbent will control the output and quality of work of subordinates,
ensure inter-departmental collaboration and train subordinates. Cost control and budget
preparations also form part of the functions and the incumbent will be responsible for his/
her own development.
