Underground Mine Planning Engineers


Barrick Africa seeks to appoint two Underground Mine Planning Engineers. The one position will be based in Bedfordview, Johannesburg and will report directly to the Regional Director: Technical Services. The other position is based at our Bulyanhulu Gold Mining operation in Tanzania and will report to the Technical Services Manager at the Mine site. The incumbents must be able to provide support with respect to long-term (five-year and Life of Mine) Production and  Development plans, provide professional technical support and co-ordinate activities/communication between mine planning and internal and external and affected parties.


We seek candidates in possession of a BSc in Mining Engineering from a recognised institution, or equivalent recognised qualification with a minimum of 2 years’ underground mining experience, including at least 5 years’ experience in a production environment, preferably in precious metals using narrow vein long hole stoping as well as cut and fill and narrow vein conventional mining. Experience with paste backfill systems and mine ventilation will be advantageous, whilst
exposure to the development of Life of Mine strategies utilising underground 3D mine design and scheduling software packages is essential.
