Job Description

St Joseph’s Care and Support Trust is a Non-profit Organisation and Public Benefit Organisation within a dedicated faithbased environment. It is a progressive NGO, situated in Bronkhorstspruit, east of Pretoria, and deals with HIV/Aids in its totality. Its primary functions are Health and Social Services, supported by capacity building and training. It is the intention of this organisation to promote representivity and achieve Affirmative Action targets, as contemplated in

Senior Professional Nurse

Requirements: ● An appropriate degree/National Diploma in Nursing and a Palliative Care Certifi cate, coupled with at least 3-5 years’ nursing experience ● Registration with the South African Nursing Council ● Substantial knowledge of HIV/AIDS ● A dynamic, self-motivated self-manager ● A Dispensing Licence ● A valid driver’s licence ● Competency in Microsoft computer programs ● The ability to work under pressure without compromising quality of work.

Essential criteria: ● Comfortable to work in a faith-based organisation ● Good interpersonal relations ● Verbal and written communication skills ● Knowledge of the National ARV Framework and National Framework for delivery on HIV/AIDS services.

Key performance areas: ● Provide effi cient and professional palliative care to patients aff ected by HIV/AIDS ● Participate in the Inter-disciplinary Team ● Conduct thorough health examinations on patients ● Prepare monthly statistics and submit these to the ARV and VCT Co-ordinator ● Prepare and administrate medical treatment, upon approval by
the Medical Doctor ● Accurately record the patients’ vital signs and responses to medical treatment ● Provide assistance to the Doctor with regards to the implementation of the treatment according to the Doctor’s instructions ● Supervise Assistant Nurses and Enrolled Nurses within the ARV and VCT Section in the absence of the Co-ordinator, by ensuring that they provide eff ective nursing services to the patients
