Senior Technical Assistant

Water and Sanitation Section

Senior Technical Assistant
Salary: R163 615 – R179 567 per annum
(Level 5 of a Grade 8 Municipality)

Requirements:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering, specialising in sewer/water will be advantageous
  
• Ability to read and interpret maps, building plans and lay-out plans
  
• Knowledge of CAD and GIS
  
• Surveying background will be advantageous
  
• Water/sanitation infrastructure knowledge
  
• Excellent communication, planning and project management skills
• Ability to supervise people
  
• Valid driver’s licence.
  

Duties:

• Supervise projects so that these run smoothly
  
• Conduct inspections
  
• Check drawings, building plans and way leave applications
• Check whether the project has developed according to specification and quality
  
• Conduct cost estimations for water and sanitation so as to inform the budget process
  
• Conduct site inspections to establish what needs to be done
  
• Process quotations
  
• Conduct administrative duties so that there is synergy of activities
  
• Assist with public queries, complaints and new connections of water and sewer.
