Department Of Arts And Culture

The Department of Arts and Culture is tasked to create an environment conducive to the growth, development and flowering of South Africa’s arts, culture and heritage landscape. Among its key objectives are the improvement, re-orientation and expansion of the arts and culture sector to serve South Africa’s cultural needs.

The Department will focus on interventions in the field of Arts and Culture to fulfill and satisfy the aspirations of the people.

Our flagship projects shall celebrate and commemorate a number of signified cant dates and events that mark milestones in South Africa’s march to freedom. Related to the theme of an “Age of Hope” is our sub-theme, “through struggle to freedom”. South Africa will also be hosting a number of international conferences and events in which the Department will be integrally involved.
